Chapter 1 The Bloody Exam
“Goodbye, Mom and Dad.”
“Have a good day at school, Lauren.”
As I’m walking out of the house, something doesn’t feel right. I feel like someone is watching me. While waiting for the school bus, I can see this black car in the distance. The bus arrives, and I see the car slowly pull up in front of my neighbor’s house.
When I arrived at school, I could see my best friend Lyla waiting for me, as always, in front of the school. ‘Hey!’ Lauren! “Are you ready for the exam?”
“Yeah, sure am.”
Glancing across the street, I noticed this woman who wasn’t too young or too old. She was presumably in her mid-twenties. She gave me a severe grimace. I couldn’t get it out of my head. I ignored her and continued with my class. Mrs. White, my teacher, began distributing the exams to the class. It began to rain. I watched droplets stream down the classroom window. I could see the woman I had seen before across the street; she was smiling, but this smile seemed evil. She had on all black and had what seemed like a tall object on her back.
“Hey, are you okay, Lauren? You don’t look so good.”
“I’m fine, Lyla.” Screams from outside the hallways. What’s going on?
“Attention, we are on lockdown. I repeat we are on lockdown.”
My heart started racing.
“Okay, students, listen to me. I need all of you to remain quiet,” said Mrs. White.
What’s that noise? It sounds like scraping from the lockers outside the classroom. You can hear students screaming and yelling. From the hallway, There was no escape.
Pop The doorknob popped and dropped to the ground. Three women entered the classroom. One of them was armed with a katana, while the other two were armed with handguns. They began to fire shots while students were running frantically in the classroom.
Lyla, my best friend, was standing to my left. She glanced at me with a tear in her eyes and murmured, “I love you,” and my eyes clenched. One of the women walked up to Lyla and shot her in the lateral side view of her head. I was next to her. Blood and brain matter splashed across the classroom wall and onto my face as if I were a canvas for a painter. My entire body sank into shock. I fell down on my knees, unable to move. It seemed like every cell in my body had shut down.
“Stand Up!! Stand Up!”
The two women stood me up. The woman with the sword sat at Mrs.White’s desk, her sword slung over her shoulder.
“Wow!” she shouted.
“Look at yourself. You’ve grown. You’re lovely, sis. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Vicky. I’ve been keeping an eye on you for quite some time, sis.”
Why is she addressing me as Sis?
“Allow me to tell you something. I used to be a bad kid. I was continuously getting into arguments, and my parents eventually kicked me out of the house. They tossed me out of the house at the age of 18 and told me that I was an embarrassment to them and that they should’ve put me up for adoption. They threw away everything I owned. In their eyes, I didn’t exist. They had a child years later. I’m your big sister.”
My eyes were wide open. “My mom and dad said they could not conceive a child before me. That was what my mom and dad told me at the time.”
“How do I have a sibling I’m not aware of?” “There were no photos of you around the house.”
“Did you not hear what I said, Lauren?” “Mom and Dad didn’t want me to exist in their eyes. “Do you not believe me?”
She got up and stood over my friend’s body.
Tell me something, Lauren?”
I looked up at her in, disgust.
“Who is this person to you.”
“She is my friend Lyla”
Vicky stepped on the body of my deceased friend. With her left hand, she held Lyla’s limp body up by her hair. She reached behind her back and drew her sword, sounding like it was from one of those Samurai action movies. Lyla’s corpse dropped to the ground with one blow of her sword, while Vicky held her head in her left hand. Blood began to gush from Lyla’s decapitated head. “Catch,” Vicky remarked, “you can use it for a keepsake or whatever.”
I was holding my friend’s head in my hands. I looked at Vicky in repugnant.
“You are a monster!!”
“Maybe, oh wait, Lauren,” she replied as she returned my gaze. Casey and Sky are my friends.”
The two women waved their guns at me.
“Lauren, when you go home, there will be a surprise for you.”
In my brain, I’m wondering, “What is she talking about?”
“I’ll come back for you later,” she said.
Vicky and her companions left the school. I began sprinting down the street toward my house. When I opened the door, I began shouting, “Mom! Dad! “Where are you?”
I walked into their bedroom. It was a puddle of blood everywhere. My parents’ heads were wrapped with red ribbons around their heads. I said to myself I’m going to kill her. She is not human. My phone started to ring. It’s Grandpa.
Grandpa. Something has occurred. Mom and Dad are dead.
“I know; it’s your sister,” he said. She wants to take your place.”
“What exactly do you mean?”
“You two are the last tribe assassins.”
“What exactly do you mean, Grandpa?”
Listen, there’s a lot you don’t know about your parents.
“Oh, Lauren, where have you gone?”
“She aspires to be at the top. Listen, your parents were assassins for a mega-corporation. She wishes to take your place. She will go to any lengths to secure that position. Lauren, whatever you do, you must flee.”
“Where have you gone, Lauren?”
“I have so many questions for you, Grandpa.”
“I know, just make your way to me.”
“I found you,” said Vicky.
I took my father’s pistol from his dead, soulless hands. I released the magazine to see if there were any bullets left. Just seven bullets were remaining in the magazine. I put the magazine in the pistol. cocked it back, then fired two shots toward Vicky. Tink Tink. She maneuvered her katana around, cutting through the bullets like something from an anime show. It was quite unnatural. This is not feasible. She should have died where she was standing. To be continued…
